I've been a handyman for over 16 years and 5 months ago bought a older house in central Florida. So now I am my own best customer. All you DIYers know what I mean. Every time I plan a project there are at least 3 things that need to be done first to be able to begin what I really need to do. Luckily being in the home repair business I have a lot of tools. And that is half the battle. The right tools for the right job are a must. Lots of times you can make do but the job takes twice as long.
Then there are those unexpected challenges that come up that you need to deal with especiley  with an older home. For example  while replacing an exterior door under the old threshold  (which now would become an exposed area) was a huge crack and a built up area higher than the interior floor which I now have the challenge to repair and blend into the floor.
